Osceola County businesses with an eye on international markets should take a look at a new Enterprise Florida program aimed at boosting export activity.
Inspire Travel, a kinder, gentler online travel company that provides a platform that can be leveraged to support social causes and community organizations, has joined the University of Central Florida Business Incubator in Kissimmee. Inspire Travel is a startup company with a conscience and a business model that combines the best features of online booking agencies with group discounting and social media while promoting social entrepreneurship.

Today, Colt's Manufacturing Company, LLC announced its commitment to create 63 jobs in Osceola County for its new regional headquarters and product manufacturing center. The center will hire people for engineering and manufacturing jobs, among others. In 2012, Colt is projecting to begin phasing in the first of 63 jobs paying an average salary of $45,060 to be created during the following three years.
Rodolfo Ortiz, president of Rodolfo Ortiz Plumbing, recently received a Rising Star Award from the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. The Osceola County Board of County Commissioners is pleased to provide the application and instructions for the Economic Development Ad Valorem Tax Exemption Program, which is designed to assist economic development through exempting certain property taxes.

Butterflies filled the air as members of the community celebrated the grand opening of the new patient tower at Florida Hospital Celebration Health. Those in attendance not only took part in the butterfly release, but were a part of the first public tour of the 234,000 sq. foot, 62 bed addition to the hospital. This expansion brings Florida Hospital Celebration Health to a 174 bed facility.

Osceola County honored PepsiCo-Gatorade for its 33 years in Osceola County recently. The plant in the Poinciana Industrial Park really gets going during the hot summer months when demand for the thirst quencher peaks.

Florida Secretary of Commerce Gray Swoope was a featured speaker at the Kissimmee / Osceola County Chamber of Commerce's 2011 Economic Development Summit held at Gaylord Palms. Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Secretary Ananth Prasad today met with Osceola County Commissioners to discuss with local leaders the SunRail commuter rail project. It is one of six meetings which took place today and in anticipation of Florida Governor Rick Scott's July 1st decision on whether the 61-mile project will move forward in the Central Florida region.

Work on a new shopping center on U.S. Highway 192 began today thanks to a moratorium that means a potential savings of more than $1 million in Osceola County's transportation impact fees, official said. The project will create new jobs, add to the tax roll, improve infrastructure in the area and put dozens of professionals and trades people to work during construction of the 65,600-square-foot Partin Village shopping center.
While setting the stage for the future by securing capital, IN ON Cable Installers Inc. is also hiring right now. Sustained financial growth is expected in coming years, company officials said, thanks in part to resources offered through the Small Business Development Center at UCF-Kissimmee.
