The Osceola County School District
The Osceola School District strongly believes in "Progress Through Accountability." A five-member School Board has the overall responsibility for the education of Osceola County students. The Superintendent of Schools is appointed by the School Board, and serves under a contractual agreement.
School Board meetings are held at 5:45 PM on the 1st Tuesday of the month and at 4:45 PM on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. All meetings are held at the School District Administrative Complex, located at 817 Bill Beck Boulevard, Kissimmee. Time is allotted on each agenda for community comments and questions, as the School Board welcomes input.
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accredits all Osceola County schools. The District grows by approximately 4,000 students per year. Osceola students represent 136 countries and speak 76 different languages.
All Osceola School Board meetings can be heard in both English and Spanish using Talksystems simultaneous interpretation equipment. An announcement in Spanish precedes every regularly scheduled Board meeting informing residents about the availability and use of the equipment.
Osceola County enjoys a long tradition of good schools. The Board and Superintendent regularly examine learning results, and continually set goals towards improved student achievement. Statistical results continue to show that, on average, students who have stayed enrolled in the Osceola School District have made gains at or above their grade level and the national average on standardized tests.
Other district goals are focused on improvement in such areas as managing growth, communication, safe schools and student safety, and then selection, recruitment and retention of teachers.
