Osceola County Assumes GOPEP Activity

The Board of Directors of the Greater Osceola Partnership for Economic Prosperity (GOPEP) took steps recently to transfer its assets and intellectual property to Osceola County.

The move was required when the City of St. Cloud voted to discontinue membership in the partnership. The Inter Local Agreement between the City of Kissimmee, the City of St. Cloud and Osceola County requires the organization to disband if any of the partners withdraw.

ORLANDO, Jan. 17, 2017 – The International Consortium for Advanced Manufacturing Research, known as ICAMR, announced Tuesday that it will officially do business as BRIDG, an acronym that captures the central mission of the innovative technology collective – “Bridging the Innovation Development Gap.”

Leaders say the new name better stands for what they do – connecting researchers and industry to accelerate the development of emerging technologies.

Global player in nanotech boosts Osceola high-tech effort

Osceola County’s growing effort to become a hub for high-tech jobs is getting a big boost, with a global player in micro-electronics and nanotechnology opening a new office near Kissimmee with potentially more than 100 jobs.

Belgium’s Imec is set to announce Friday plans to have 100 scientists and personnel working at the fledgling Florida Advanced Manufacturing Research Center center, near Kissimmee, in the next five years.
